I'm about to start painting my 68 base model coupe and I can't figure out how to remove the molding around the windshield and rear windsheild? I know that they're clipped on somehow but I can't figure out how to remove the clips for the life of me! Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
Thanks VERY much for you help.
Oh yeah, once I get them off if I ever get the molding off how do I put the clips back in.

There is a tool that makes removing the trim very easy. It looks like a pair of scissors and is available for aboyt $10.00 at most any parts store. LISLE makes a good one.

To use it, run 1 of the scissor ends behind the trim til you come to a clip. Put the other scissor end behind the trim on the other side of the clip & squeeze. The trim will pop off the clip. Very easy.

If you go to any kind of a good parts store, the counter help should be able to show you how to use it.

Oh okay, THANK YOU so much, what company did you say sold them? do they have a website or is there a way I can order one or pick one up? and to put it back on do I just buy new clips, put them on the molding, and pop it on?
Thanks again.

Expect to replace some clips... and maybe some studs and hope you still have a window channel. These cars usually rust around the front and rear windows...

If you're cheap like me you can make one. I took a old hack saw blade and made two cuts into the end hole with aviator shears. Sort of make a "J" shape out of it. File off any burrs and wrap the cutting teeth with tape. Insert under the trim against the glass and pull along until you snag on a clip. Then gently pull out until the trim pops up, you might have to pull the opposite way against the other side of the clip (the clips are about 1" wide). Go slow and don't force it or you'll bend the molding.
