I'm having a real hard time trying to decide what to do with my '67.

The obvious option being to restore it to factory. Everything on it is original, so that helps, but to make it correct, the vinyl top, SS badges, and nose stripe have to go. I'd even keep it Ermine White. Then I could do some period correct performance mods.

The other option being what I'd call a "mid" customizing. I've always liked the hidden headlights of the RS, but don't want to make a clone. So I'm actually considering putting on just the headlights of the RS. Then as a tribute to my mother-in-law, who gave us the car, plus my wife wants it, I was thinking of keeping the bumblebee stripe, incorrect as it is on a plain jane 327 coupe. To break it up, I was thinking of some custom emblems where SS would go, just to break up the stripe. I'm thinking "67", or something. Maybe even one that says "Betsy" in the same script as the Chevrolet emblem on either the hood or deck. Another tribute to "mom", since she named her after all. As for performance, well, the sky's the limit there.

I guess I'm looking for opinions. I know that the whole point is to do the car the way I want. But at the same time, I don't want to do something that's going to look ridiculous or draw a lot of ire at shows....purists excepted who'll jeer anything non-stock anyway.

Looking for input.

Jeff...
If you do it up as you want, it is fine. It looks like you want to stay original looking however a few engine upgrades etc. Most of us do that so you should be on the right track. Never feel you have to please the "Camaro Cops" :)

This has been asked many times on this board. You will get replys from "its your car do what you want" to " keep it all factory". Both replys are right I guess it just depends on the person.
My personal thoughts are do what you want but don't do any permanent damage. Paint, emblems, grilles and engines and transmisions can all be changed and changed back if you want. Just keep all the original parts with the car so if you ever want to sell it or if you change your mind and want to put it back to original you still can. I don't think to many people will disagree with the fact the car will most always be worth more original but for most of us this is not just about money, this is a hobby. I don't like to see people tub out a real soild car because for all practical purposes there is no going back. Unless you are sure this is want you want and will never change your mind. I have a friend who did a pro street cuda very nice job narrowed rear end with a 4 link. After he drove the car for a while he did not like the way it rode or handled and I think he regrets doing it now but its to late. I'm not saying it is not possible to put it back to stock but it would take a lot of work by someone more talented than me or him. I look at these cars as pieces of history, they are not making anymore. Just my 2 cents good luck.

If you like the nose stripe and want to keep it, that's fine. The stripes were an option available on any Camaro and standard on the SS.
