View Full Version : 4spd tranny tunnel s4h Jan 27th, 04, 03:42 PM hey guys any idea where i can get tranny tunnel with the factory hole in it to put 4spd muncie in my car . graemlins/thumbsup.gif Unreal Jan 27th, 04, 04:02 PM The holes were cut on line with a torch on line, so they look butchered. Nothing special about them, so no need to change tunnels, just cut out the tunnel you have. Look for a recent post that had a couple of rulers in the photo. The photo shows front to back very well, but you might need an additional reference point for left to right. repomaninc Jan 27th, 04, 04:39 PM s4h, where in Boston r u? read my posts, I'm trying to do the same thing on the south shore H s4h Jan 27th, 04, 05:16 PM i am also on the south shore . PDQUICK Jan 28th, 04, 12:10 PM I'm originally from Boston and lived in Weymouth and Marshfield until about 6 yrs ago! I'm down there all the time 'cuz all my freinds and family live 'down' there!! Are you guys buying your re-pop stuff from Jimmy @ Levaggi Enterprises?? If your not, your spending a lot of money on shipping!! Paul D. repomaninc Jan 28th, 04, 04:45 PM Levaggi...you mean the candy man!! I'm about 30 sec. from him on rt 18! where on the South shore r4? h s4h Jan 29th, 04, 03:12 AM yes i live in weymouth too . and i do get all my parts fromm jimmy p. @ levaggis . i went to school with him . known him along time . PDQUICK Jan 29th, 04, 04:58 AM Yeah, he's a good guy! I drive down from NH to get stuff from him all the time. The big boys will charge you as much to ship a quarter panel as the part is worth! repomaninc Jan 29th, 04, 02:46 PM Hey We are all neighbors.!! I was a ASE Master as well for 12 years, A&P In USAF,BSME from Wentworth, but got into another bussiness a few years ago. Hence my screen name..LOL.Worked with the Clair boys in W. Rox. amoung others. My Brother lives in Nashua..Up there often.. Do Buss. with the auction in londonderry. Wanna exchange ph #'s?. It beats Typing!! H 4sspd69 Jan 29th, 04, 04:07 PM The shifter cutout for my '69 doesn't appear to have been cut with a cutting torch nor does it have a butchered appearance. It's a Norwood car and I'm pretty sure it came with a 4-speed. I'm puzzled as to why mine looks different? Thanks for any explanation. PDQUICK Jan 30th, 04, 04:34 AM "Cut with a torch"?? I don't know about that, I could be wrong but I have never seen a first gen that looked like the trans tunnel was cut with a torch. In this article on CRG.org, John Hinckley indicates that the trans tunnel was "pierced" for the floor shift. I think that would mean punched (with some amount of precision!)I have a hard time believing that the GM process was to torch the floor! But I've been wrong before! http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml Repo, I went to Wentworth too got a BSEET in 85 and went back to finish a BSEE later. Played on their hockey team back when it was a club sport!! Now their a dominant division III team!! What years were you there?? Paul D. Scoop69RS-SS Jan 30th, 04, 08:59 AM Who the heck is this guy "Jimmy" who appears to be a great local source. Fess up guys. Spill it. graemlins/beers.gif s4h Jan 30th, 04, 12:45 PM he is a n.o.s goodmark sheetmetal dealer he has everything from weatherstripping to chrome emblems . you name it jimmy has it. or he can get it . for a better price than the catalogs offer . :D PDQUICK Jan 30th, 04, 12:49 PM Jimmy Puopolo! He runs Levaggi Enterprises out of the back of Levaggi's Candy on Rt 18 in Weymouth, MA. He's legitimate and has been doing this for as long as I can remember. He stocks almost everything you can imagine for old GM cars and actually has a lot of replacement panels for late model stuff. He actually has a warehouse now (for the past few years) and if he doesn't have what you need he'll get it. The big deal is the savings in shipping cost. Since he buys the panels by the truckload for wholesale price, you don't end up paying the truck freight charges that you would on large items like hoods and doors. If I'm buying a door handle, I'm probably going to get it from Year One or Rick's, but if I'm buying large stuff, it's definitely worth the trip to MA!! tongue.gif Prices are generally the same or slightly less than from the big guys. Sometimes he might even have a slightly scratched or dented panel that you can pick up for waaaaay under normal cost. ($150 for my re-pop, left, RS fender w/two minor dings!! :D ) The trick is catching him at the store!! It usually doesn't take more than phone call to line up a vist but he can be elusive!! I'll post his number when I get home unless one of the other guys beats me to it. There's also Camaro's Plus right here in Londonderry! This guys is kind of expensive but has a lot of good used parts. He probably has a hundred first gen. cars for parts on his lot PH: 603-627-6471 No secrets, just local word of mouth! ;) Scoop: Hope to see ya 'round this summer. I'll be drivin a '68 RS, Z-28 clone. Brittish green with white skunks and Weld draglite XP's about 2" off the ground!! Can't miss it! ;) Paul D. s4h Jan 30th, 04, 12:58 PM levaggi enterprises 1186 main st. so. weymouth ma 02190 ph . 781-335-1231 you have to ask for him personally .he is the only one that handles all the resto stuff . levaggis is also a candy store so most times one of the ladies that work for him will answer . Scoop69RS-SS Feb 9th, 04, 06:22 AM S4H, PDQuick, Thanks guys for the local knowledge. (I already know Peter at Londonderry.) I'll file the Weymouth connection. PDQuick, I go to the Derry Burger King Cruise night every so often. I also go to the Merrimack Burger King on Friday nights. Look for a solid red 69 RS-SS. I'm not going to un-badge it until it gets painted. You can't miss mine either, the licence plate says "RS-SS". Rick/Scoop PDQUICK Feb 9th, 04, 07:20 AM Cool Scoop!! I'll probably see ya around BK on cruise night! Mine is already "unbadged". Just got mine back from paint and couldn't deal with drilling holes in all the new sheet metal! The only emblem on the car is a small block lettered "Camaro" from a '67 header panel that I mounted low on the front spoiler. I really like the look except people keep asking me what year "Mustang" it is?? graemlins/clonk.gif People really are clueless! Got the interior all in over my Christmas vacation, so now I just need to pop in a grille and tail lights and I'm ready to rock&roll! Paul D. Scoop69RS-SS Feb 9th, 04, 08:02 AM Who did your body work and paint? My car is in winter storage down the street at Terry McGraths' in Derry. Rick.
