Hi - Is there any way to tell what car a Muncie M20 came out of. I know this one is a '68, but haven't found a way to tell what it might have come out of.

Main Case - 3825660
Tail Housing - 3857584
Date Code - P8H03
Side Plate - 3884685
Vin?? - 18P215997

10/27 in/out spline

Thanks,

John

John,

Check that VIN again. There's no "P" plant. Is it maybe an "R"?

That would be the Arlington, Texas plant, and they built Full Size cars.

I would have to agree with Ed, the 1 means Chevrolet.

It could be an R. Pontiac trans started with a 2.

The 3rd character is only a partial. At first I thought is was a B, but looking at different web sites, I figured it must have to be a P since this is a Muncie tranny. Maybe that logic is wrong, but I guess it could be an R also, there's just not enought of the stamp to tell. This is actually not the vin off of the car, but is stamped on the tranny.
