View Full Version : 67 Rs/ss?
jrw50cal Jan 29th, 07, 05:37 PM Hello people, Im trying to purchase my first camaro. I looked at a red 1967 RS/SS tonight. After researching this awesome website a see that alot of people are faking these cars nowdays. I did get some pictures of the car and the cowl tags that i would like for you guys to see. I would appreciate any help or advice you guys could give me for when i go back.
01D E
67-12367 NOR 79545
765Z
W 2LGSR 3SL
4P 5Y
The car is red with black interior, 350ci, 4speed 12bolt. The owner says that its a real ss/rs matching numbers. I couldnt get the number of of the engine, but he says that I can use a piece of chalk?
The thing that gets me is it has non power drum breaks all the way around. is this correct?
Thanks
Jason

67 SS cars could come with either drum or disc brakes. From the #'s you gave of the trim tag, it does break down as a 350 SS with the RS option.
thorpe67RS Jan 29th, 07, 06:22 PM Decode for that tag as follows:
1967 model year
N = Norwood, OH assembly plant
01D = Built the Fourth week of January 1967.
67-12637 = Sport Coupe, custom interior
765 = Black custom bucket seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests).
E= Exterior color is Deepwater Blue
Options:
1W = Tinted Winshield
2L = (M20) 4-speed floor shifter
2G = (D55) Console front compartment
2S = (U73) Antenna Manual right rear
2R= Rear Seat Speaker
3S= (Z23) Interior decor
3L = (Z22) Rally Sport Package
4P= SS 350 or L30/M20
5Y = (A39) Belts All Deluxe

Not quite true. The car could be a L30/M20 car.

jet_car2000 Jan 30th, 07, 06:43 AM Jason sounds like a good find, get the numbers of the trans and off the front of the passenger axle tube and post them as well as any numbers you can get off the engine, and post them , the guys here will help you figure out if there all the correct parts the car came with. Craig you didnt make a mistake the paint code was not posted by Jason in the 1st post
jrw50cal Jan 30th, 07, 06:08 PM OK folks, as of right now, im going back Thursday with a buddy. Ill do my best to get all of the numbers that I can.
Question, whats the best way to be able to read the engine# ? Its painted over however I can barely see it through the paint. A wire brush maybe? Also where is the number on the trans?
I appreciate all of your help guys!
P.S. If you guys want to see the car Im looking at, I could email someone the pics to post them here.
The paint code is R R
Thanks,
Jason
thorpe67RS Jan 30th, 07, 06:33 PM Bolero Red is the color. If the guy is cool he really should let you scrape the paint off the pad to see the numbers.
