I have always thought or heard that a tall deck wasn't any good. I heard today that they are better. I know where one is cheap. Is it worth getting? I would be trying to get at least 600hp out of it.

Sure, if it is a 427 block and you want to make it either into a 454 or a 496.

You will have to really thump on a 427 to reach 600hp, but the 454 can do it with some hardcore speed parts AND the 496 with some mild one's easy, imho!!

I say this b/c the tall deck 366 is too small bored to be of much use except for just keeping it's crank, rods and main caps if they are 4-bolt.

All this said, the tall deck's have engine bay fitment issues so this is the mainreason guys tend ta shy away from them. That and poor intake selection unless you use spacers.....

They didn't make a tall deck 454. It's either a 366 or a 427 you don't want a 366 it has a very small bore and can't be bored much.

Hey yeah, it's true.. Only BowTie blocks were available in tall deck.. I didn't realize that!:thumbsup:
