Another question for the L78 numbers guys, any records or listings of the earliest L78 Camros out there? We are wondering if our car is one of the earliest out there.

Is there any reference to options like L78 and VIN numbers?

Dad ordered it the day he heard it was available, he worked at Shalla Chevrolet, a local Chevy dealership at the time.
He took delivery May 5, 1967

Thanks.

Are those numbers posted here or on CRG someplace?

No, CRG does not publish those types of numbers.

why?

why?

Because there is no benefit to the hobby. There are more fake 4K cowl tags than any other. We don't need to make it any easier for them to be made and harder for us to be able to pick them out.

Thanks.
You mention the early L78 motors were built in March '67. From what I'm hearing, there wasn't that much time between when a motor was assembled and when it was mated with a vehicle.

Since he ordered it the week he heard the L78 package was available and picked up the car may 5th, that would put his order in mid-March.

This is the motor number from our protect-o-plate T0413MQ does this tell me anything?

The L78 pace cars were pretty early cars also

...April 13th (but I'm sure you knew that).

the mid-March L78's would (obviously) be dated earlier, ...but I would wonder what sort of 'general' records are out there as to how many are before yours? ...I would think CRG might have that, ...which I think is what you're looking for (even knowing CRG doesn't have all of them recorded).

OK, not too tough to break those codes LOL.
it looks like our motor was made April 13th. Any way to determine how many were built before that?

Yep, we know our car is early, but we are wondering how early :D

What is the build date on your trim tag?
Do you have the 4K on the tag?
very early L78 did not use 4K
