That tag's been sanded to show the numbers/ letters. That can make them appear different in a picture. I don't think that it's been off that car or someone did a good job replacing it. The tag looks pretty good to me.

388 block unusual, but not that rare. Even if there were only 3, makes no difference in value.

Not going to pick this car apart, but hardly a number 2 car.

"UNDER CARRIAGE: The chassis and underside has undergone an extensive restoration and is finished in original semi-gloss black." Guess that includes the ultra rare black painted gas tank.

CRG now reporting that the ...388 block is just as common as the ...386 block so not rare at all. Old stories and publications are probably to blame.

why does the 388 block always show up as 327 or 350, is there documentation that the Z had that block installed?

The tag is real. This car was for sale in Feb 2006 and I have all the numbers off it then. It is an amateur resto, IMO. I may actually be a 386 block and the 6 looks like an 8.

If thats the case its well worth the asking price, no? Ive seen Zs sell for more than that and your getting an extra motor with this one. in his side veiw is that the camera or are the rockers all twisted?

Joe the ...388 block doesnt 'always' show up in 350 and 327 since those engines also had the ...3232386 block in the mix too.
Again, CRG now is sensing those 2 blocks were the most common in 69. I dont keep track of all cars but since there are less true Z's produced than all the other V-8 engines, the ..386 and ..388 block will show up more in advertising for sale cars. :)
