Hey Everyone,

So here is my delimma.....

I am building the '67 Yenko Clone (or whatever the nom du jour is) and I am trying to decide on the motor. Of course it will have the requisite 427 in it but - do I worry about date matchign the block/heads/etc...? I am just starting the research on this but since it will be a clone, do you guys think the $5000+ extra for the "right" motor will bring that much more money later on? If I were just worrying about driving and for myself I wouldn't care but I will sell it someday and I want to make the best decision.

Any thoughts?

Bill

As the owner of a 68 Yenko clone I have often wondered about the same thing. I have heard that, if you want bigger $$$ from your clone it must be as "correct" as it can be. This would include engine, M21, suspension components, 140 speedo, etc, etc.
Even then I have found it difficult to guess what it may be worth vs a good SS or Z28. You have to find the right buyer who wants a Yenko but can't stand the price.
At the end of the day, I think the L72 engine is worth the extra money if it makes you happy. Do what feels good. The eventual sale price is too tough to guess and you can build good power in a less expensive 427.

Yes I did - thank you for the info. He's got some nice stuff - I just need to get the Financial Committee (read Wife) to be okay with the $15K if I go with the right date range. She's been pretty good so far - My previous past time was deep shipwreck exploration so I was off in the Philippines and Micronesia a lot so she's glad that I have a hobby that involves being at home! :hurray:
