Truck has a smaller pinion believe it or not.

The inner pinion bearing is smaller and the shaft size where the inner pinion bearing goes is smaller. The axle bearings are larger and the bolt pattern is larger. The brakes are larger and the bolt pattern for the brake backing plates is larger. The offset of the ring gear flange is different.

It's no problem putting a truck 12 bolt in a Camaro or Nova. All you have to do is change the housing ends, narrow it to the right width and get a set of Camaro axles. You can't put one in a Chevelle without doing some suspension modifications.
