I bought a plug adapter it has all the same color wires as the harness coming out of the stereo. Wired it up and plugged it in and nothing no display lites either. I checked the hot wires coming out of the cars plug and I'm getting 12 volts when the key is turned on. I'm running out of answers and worried my son will soon think his dad is clueless.

The car is a mid May production and I suspect it was built as one of the "pacesetter" specials that went out to dealers. I suspect that because it is white with blue interior, loaded with the trim options (console, bumble bee paint stripe, deluxe bumper guards, etc.) but had the 250 straight six and powerglide! Everybody say OOHHHH, feel the power! That engine promptly blew apart 2 months after buying the car which allowed me to begin the process of putting in a 327. It is great seeing all the fellow Camaro owners documenting their restoration processes and the hurdles they overcome. It is inspiring me to get my project done and moving after languishing for so long. There is a 396 and Turbo 400 waiting to be installed after I get the body painted. I want to add more power what is a good compression ratio to run? I want to bump up the compression with maybe a different head gasket without replacing pistons. Does this setup sound good and what kind of poer to expect? On a budget so i want to keep the price down. I put everything back together as it was, and started her up...the engine produced a pretty loud hissing noise which I am guessing is a leak from the base of my carb. So I shut the engine off, and heard a pretty destinctive ticking noise coming from the engine, which I have never heard before! :sad: It lasted for about a minute, then stopped.

I am installing my new msd 160 amp altenator & was wondering if anyone has some pics of how they installed their unit.

At present i can see my altenator being positioned on the passenger side in front of the cylinder head.

The other option is to install lower on the same side - i am sorting out the details of my electric water pump lower feed - once this is done i can look closely at what room there is to position the altenator in this space.

Any pics or details would be very helpful!

Building a Z28 clone. Factory appearing, Minus the painted firewall. Color is Torch red, the red looks much better in person. I replaced quarters, wheel house's, roof skin, dash, fenders, hood, and a bunch of patch panels throughout the floor and trunk pans.
