I would take a look at taking the innards out of the smog pump. I had that done on my last Z. It had the look but all that was turning was the pulley. You are then able to run the timing at 12 to 13 degrees initial. They do no run well with the smog pump and the retarded timing. Something to take a serious look at.

Hey Brian, Yeah the good thing is that there is very little metal work needed. So I'll throw it on my rotisserie and do the work. The only missing original parts was a water pump and smog pump. Had a replacement water pump. Since I've found a date correct and casting correct of both pumps to make it complete.
    Thanks again

Hey Buddy, sorry for the late response. Been SUPER busy and haven't been over here at TC in a few weeks. I ended up buying a Z from Sarasota that's been garaged/barn since 1979. Has all original parts to car plus entire drive line is true and matching. I'm also over at CRG and have a thread going about the car.

    Thanks

I have Z/28 front springs in the car. It came with 4 leaf springs in the rear, and Big block springs up front. I did not like the jacked up front end so I changed them. The coil spring number is 6308 by Moog. The wheels are 16 X 8 Vintage Wheel Works V45s. The tires are Nexen 621s in 225 50 16, and 245 50 16. I went to a lot of trouble to research this ride height. I owned several 69 Z/28s and they were orginally this height. I owned one brand new in 69. The ride is a little harder with these tires but the suspension is firm on cornering. Make sure you follow the AIM when mounting the springs so the height is equal on all four corners. With the 4.5 backspace you will get the odd rub up front but very minor. Hope this helps

Hey Stewie, I saw a pic of your 68 Camaro and was wondering if you could give me some details about it. I have a 68 I want to restore and love the stance of your's. Do you have drop springs or spindles? What are the tire and wheel sizes? Wheel backspacing? Awesome car!
