I never went to the upgrade and I feel it would be a good thing for your 55. Its basically a throttle body set up for air, fuel injected into the intake runners. I did run the optionally 235 GM cam and yes, I had Edlebrock send me the extra Eprom. I had issues with the air temp sensor placement. In stock form its mounted in the intake . this placement will pickup hi engine temps as as the engineer told me, the sensor doesn't know what to do when temps get over 140. So I placed the sensor in the air vent intake tube, over he headlamp to keep ambient temps normal. Worked great after that. I no longer have the car, it went to Calif , somewhere around Orange county.
System you have is an older system. The newer ones from FAST, should be about the same. If you are using it for street, I would keep it.
