What is the acceptable range of crank end play for a freshly rebuilt 350, has not been cranked? Engine has stock crank and rods with standard size bearings. Plan on using a dial indicator to measure end play. Thanks!

Checked with a dial indicator and had 0.005 then turned the motor and measured 0.006. Looks like it should be okay.

Thanks for the input!

Sometimes too much or too little endplay will show up, Make sure thrust bearing and main cap are seated well and against the crank flange. You can loosen the main cap some and tap balancer end of crank with soft mallet or wooden hammer to seat thrust flange against the thrust bearing surface. Retighten and torque, check again.

I checked the end play during assembly with feeler gauge and it measured about 0.007. The engine is all together now and I checked it with dial indicator and it was 0.006.
