Default 1964 Chevy Impala 4 door...original family and low miles

Hi folks,

I have a chance to buy a really cool car to use as a driver. It's a light blue 64 4 door Chevy Impala that's been in a friends garage for 5+ years without moving. It's been repainted once about 10 years ago, has all original sheetmetal (no rust repaired prior to paint since there was none), original interior except the seat covers and 75,000 original miles. It's a 327 4 barrel car with a powerglide and is overall in excellent shape and only the tires, brakes, belts and hoses have been replaced. It was bought new in MD and has only been registered in two names...the original owner and then the son-in-law when the original owner passed away. I checked e-bay but the prices are all over the place on the 2 doors but I don't see any 4 doors.

Any idea what it's worth without seeing it?

Cool Re: 1964 Chevy Impala 4 door...original family and low miles

It really depends on condition and location - just like Camaros
I see the 'Grannies 4-door' come up for auction/sale on local sites around here fairly often.
There are a couple on the valley "craigslist" sites right now - but there all 'low-riders'
Here's a blue one on eBain - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-...1%7C240%3A1318

I did see a very clean Impala 4-door Hardtop with 327/PG and factory AIR at a local dealer a while back going for $20k - it was sold a few weeks later when I went back
So in great condition they can get some real money ...

ps: If you happen to come across a clean 62 Impala SS in someones garage out you way give me a call

Well...I bought it and plan to make it my daily driver. It runs GREAT! Here's some pics of the car, the build sheets and the original warranty card.

Hate to tell you, but the tag is a repro, the engine is a restamp, and the docs are pseudo-aged.

J/K, looks like a neat car. Must have been sitting somewhere on a concrete floor; the underside appears to be in need of some attention.

It is so well preserved inside, I'd almost be afraid I would look over and see a ghost of an original owner.

Thanks E...you had me worried for just about 1/10 of a second! I'll be bringing it up to PA in a few days to show my dad, I'll make sure I call and see if you're around.

You're right about the concrete and that's exactly what got the underside. The good thing is that about all that appears to be damaged is the factory/dealer installed undercoating. It flakes off and leaves pristene metal! It's a cool find and I'm glad I found it!!

Dave,
Did you get it running yet? From the picture the gas in the bowl looks pretty dark. On the 64 there is a splice of rubber gas line inside the front pass side frame rail. It is an easy way to drain the old gas out of the tank without having to drop the tank. Just remove the rubber line (usually need replacement anyway) and put a drain pan below it. Then put a little pressure in the tank to push out the bad fuel. Almost as easy as a drain plug!
Good Luck.

Looks real nice Dave
Should make a decent 'daily' driver, if you can get used to the Horsepower - try not to fry those bias tires

It was fun seeing those engine lights Chevrolet used for the early 60's
I used to tell dates that I couldn't drive until the "COLD" light went out - gave some extra 'lip' time before driving her home

Great clear pictures of that Suffix there guy
Looks like it reads T1108S - am I close ???

You're gonna love that "Shove-Rod" power steering system
The precision feeling of a rubber band and the reliability of a defective bungie cord ...
Let me know if you need some information on it - or tips to try and stop the leaks
The 'Up side' is they help cut down on rust under the car ...

I do bet you'll get nothing but positive reactions from folks as you drive it and lots of and

LOL...I couldn't figure out the micro setting on my wife's camera. You are exactly right on the code and once I can find my own digital cam I'll get a good pic but I promise it's NOT a restamp!

Good Luck.
I took the carb off, cleaned it up a bit, filled the bowl with 112 octane that I use in one of my Camaros, pumped the gas twice and she fired right up and runs like a top. Just a tiny bit of light blue smoke out of the left side after it's been running for 10 mins...I'm gonna guess valve seals.
