Well I certainly got an education about automotive paint the last few days. First off thanks to everyone for the help and advice, I certainly wanted to get it right the first time. I have some of the original paint on the car by the quarter windows under the interior rear side panels which are out of the car. The PPG dealer is going to come to my house to take some pictures (I guess that is a profet) of the original paint to match it. Thanks again for the help, RonM.

Ron did you check your PM'S? I sent you some very important information that I think you will find will come in handy.

I shot an original butternut yellow car with the Dupont camera (chromavision) and it came back with a color called wheat yellow or something like that. It was a perfect match.

Yes Brandan and thank you. At about the same time my painter determined the original paint that was covered by the rear side panels since the car was new, could be used to make a match. Yesterday he made an appointment with the local PPG dealer to come to my house to shoot a picture. I will also pass along your info. to my painter and we'll go from there. Ron

That's why we pulled gas caps and sent them to the supplier. You'll see them in their mixing room.

Yeah, it kind of is! Has anyone seen one with a Pro-Touring type stance?

Here some misc pics of my 69' "COPO" (recreation)..........................

For all the complimentary talk on this thread, it wasnt (and still isnt) a very popular color in 69'. I'm thinking that 1% of 69 Camaros were B.Y. ?????

My car below is currently under repair to improve the body condition. I may be changing the color again to ????? , as the X-11 trim tag color is Frost Green !!!!!!!!!!

Just to bring you guys up to date I finally got the paint mixed. The PPG dealer came to my house and took a prophet on the car, but that did'nt work out too well. The area wasn't large enough for the camera and it was probably contaminated with overspray from me painting the floor panels and package tray, it looked too pale. So what we ended up doing was getting a sample of the Omni butternut yellow, spraying a test panel and then taking a prophet of it which was used to mix it up in DBU. RonM

All that your going through makes me feel bad that my 67 is originally a YY car but has not been Butternut for years.
