Default rear disc conversion...extended wheel studs???

just put a rear disc brake conversion on my 67 camaro...now...when i put the complete brake assembly together it looks like it have less threads on my wheel studs...do most rear disc brake conversions require an extended wheel studs??? if so...what studs should i get and...how do i take them off and install the new ones?

Sure it will......Rotors are thicker than drums.......

Usually you can "pop"them out with a hammer.Install new ones using a stack of greased washers and the lug nut backwards(flat side towards car)

Try and line up the splines on the new longer studs with the ones in the hole of the axle flange....

The final result should be a few threads showing beyond the nut after the wheel is installed.....I would do this as an indication of stud length even if your wheels currently use an "Acorn"style nut.

I have also learned about "bulge" nuts to save valuable steel wheels....

Default Re: rear disc conversion...extended wheel studs???

I did the WS6 converion on my 71 and I changed the studs to longer ones. In fact, the factory axles on 79-81 T/A with rear discs comes with longer studs since like said above the rotors are thicker than drums.

Changing the studs is easy but noisy. Just pound out the old ones with a BFH and do the washer and reversed lug nut trick and they press right in.
