Thanks, Paul: There is traffic about this on Chevy Talk, too. Hope Doug gets back on & lets us know more yet. Have you checked the Holley brocure link on C.T.? It has some good info. It looks like a HP series ECU harness & kit (550-601) will be available for users who have a slealth ram & C950 already. I still don't have the set-up in my '67 perfect yet, and I hope they can find a price break if we want to convert over. Thanks, Todd

Thanks Doug!

So...for a guy like me who has the old setup with a stealthram, will I be able to buy the new ECU and harness?

Hi, Doug: I'm sure you'll get lots of questions, and it looks like there is good interest in the new Holley set-up. For those of us who have purchased a Stealth Ram & C950 set-up, do you think there will be any price break from Holley if we are interested in purchasing the part # 550-601 ECU and harness kit? If so, a name & contact number sure would be appreciated when Holley's ready to release the product!

You will be able to get ECU/Harnesses packages for current and previous hardware such as a Stealthram.

I'm not the marketing/sales dept, but have thought about incentives for previous C950 customers to upgrade. I'll mention it and see what it goes and what can be done..

FWIW, I'm still running the same Holley ECU that I've run for...well...hmmm, at least four years? JimM is running the Holley ECU that I was using before that...or do I have the old one and Jim has the new one???

what kind of system is this? Meaning, can it run with little vacuum at idle. I run the big mutha thumper cam and have 6.5 ibs of vacumm at idle, but climb to 15 at 2k. I would hate to be a gueini (sp) pig for the system. fast told me there ez-efi would run with that cam, they said they had tested it on a motor with 4 ibs of vacuum at idle....

Here is the deal, I'm not going to say much about FAST, they are a good group, but things have limitations. The Holley system is sold as the "Avenger" series which comes with a handheld tuner eliminating a laptop like EZ EFI. However, unlike FAST, you could plug a laptop into it if fine tuning was needed. But it is sold to not require one.

When is "laptop tuning" needed? Let's just talk about fueling only, not spark and other features that really need a laptop. The EZ EFI and Avenger both have base fuel tables. These tables are based on engine vacuum and RPM. There are "issues" created by low vacuum cams. First you lose resolution on the fuel table as you only operate in a small tuning window. The Avenger uses a 31x31 table to learn from, which adds resolution with low vacuum cams. THe std FAST laptop is only 16x16 which is low resolution, if you don't go in and rescale the table to account for low vacuum (which you can only do with a laptop. I'd guess the EZ EFI is only 16x16 from what I know. What the lesser resolution means is you have potential poor tuning between idle and load conditions at low RPM, not enough resolution with low idle vacuum. Also, with big cams, some parameters may need to be fine tuned (various acceleration enrichment tables) that you can't access with the FAST.

So can very low vacuum cams work with these systems? Certainly there ends up being some compromise. If you need more tuning you are stuck. The Holley has several parameters you can offset with the handheld and worst case go in with the laptop. The EZ only has a couple.

So "it will work" may have results that are ok with one person but not up to the standards of another. Personally i wouldn't want to compromise after spending $2k+.

Make sense?

Paul, not sure if I have the new one or the old one, they're both v3 at this point, no difference, eh?

I suppose I should just pop over to chevytalk, I'm sure there are pages and pages on the new system, but as long as Doug is checking in here...

My first 2 edged sword question is, does the new system use the same sensor set as the old?
These sensors are getting a lil long in the tooth at this point, still... it would suck to have to buy all new stuff...

Why should I upgrade?
What will I gain?
I haven't put the laptop on my system in 2 years, other than a lil rich cold start, she runs great.
