i have a m22 muncie in my 1969 camaro. Is the "W" with a line correct for 1969 or is the Lisle magnetic drain plugs correct. i have read that 1969 m22 muncies with 660 case has "W" with line under it and 661 case had the lisle. anyone know which is correct

The "661" case was not used until 1970. My car has Lisle, the W,s are for M20/M21 Fill Plugs only, I know that 1969, M22 Camaros also used "P" for Drain and Fill Plugs in later production cars.

Regardless, I'd forego the 'correct' drain plug for the magnetic version. Cheap bit of insurance. AC Delco still sells them. Let me know if you need the part number,..I can likely dig it up.

FWIW - M22 Drain Plugs are Magnetic, but your point is very advisable for a update to regular transmisson cases if you tap them for the drain plug.

69 and eariler M22's had "magnetic" lettering on the outside of the plug in place of the "w". These of corse were magnetic. All 69 M20 and M21 had the letter "W". All muncies from 70-74 had "lisle" plugs.

1970 and up Magnetic Plugs say Lisle in the centre of the plug, there were also "P" magnetic plugs used in 69 and quite possibly earlier years.
