My first 2 edged sword question is, does the new system use the same sensor set as the old?
These sensors are getting a lil long in the tooth at this point, still... it would suck to have to buy all new stuff...

Why should I upgrade?
What will I gain?
I haven't put the laptop on my system in 2 years, other than a lil rich cold start, she runs great.
Jim,
The same induction hardware is used (TBI, MPFI, etc). I'd like to upgrade that stuff, but it works decent and didn't have the time yet. So the harnesses would be plug and play. WB02 is standard and integrated into the new ECU's. You can't run a narrowband even if you wanted.

Why upgrade? Well, if you are 98% happy with what you have, then I wouldn't!

There are "reasons" that may or may not matter, the ability to run a 5.7" full color TSLCD that can do all the tuning and has a gauge panel and future things to come, better idle control. Abilities you probably don't need to run many power adders. And more things.

But if it "does the job" right now, then.... The C950 like any "technology" product was getting long in the tooth, but it did the job in most cases.

So then on my other small block that has the C950 MPFI, I should upgrade the electronics to the newer system? I hate having the old lap top system, which has been a pita now that you have to have adapters to hook up, since most lap tops are not setup with a serial port, and it was always needing a little tweak here and there.

You can. The C950 was a decent unit and was not overcomplicated which is a big deal, this system has as many improvements as we could pack in.

True, but in the domain of electronics, newer "most" of the time is aways better, (Vista not included) more features once figured out to me would be better, once I went wide band things got kinda interesting

Doug, can it still use either a GM feedback EFI 7 or 8 pin HEI module? I have Dave Ray do all my non-Chevrolet , and even some of my older Chevrolet's, as his feedback EFI HEI, will this system use the same modules? He uses the 8 pin ones on all my stuff. BTW, Dave has me on over 20 of your older Commander 950 systems in my collection, and they all work GREAT.

Regards,

Milton

Hi Milton,

Yes, still is plug and play with the GM feedback HEI modules. Glad you had good luck with the Commander 950's! Does the same ignition types the Commander did, plus LSx and more options.

Doug

Thanks, Doug. I simply won't use a different ignition than one of Dave's, they work right out of the box, no worries. With Dave's, and your group's excellent help, I have pretty much mastered the Commander 950 system setup and tuning, and now, you throw this new one at us. It shouldn't be hard to get it dialed in easily. This new system looks to be a darned good one for sure.

Dave hasn't seen it yet, so no word on it from him, but I'll go out on the proverbial limb and say he's gonna like it, a lot. He's just now getting over a few health matters, shot in stopping a robbery, complete respiratory failure and, while getting over the lung infection, being bitten by a black widow spider, while he was still in the hospital. I understand the spider died. He's had a really fun 2009....so far.

Thanks again,

Reqards,

Milton
