i've found a guy thats got a 468 bbc dynoed at 625 horses for sale....got less than 1 hour on motor...problem is that the thing has got a high rise intake on it that wont fit under the hood of my 68........if i put an aluminum intake that will fit my car...how much horsepower will that kill...?its got a 1050 cfm carb on it now..(dominator,i think)...but i've also got a holley hp 750 that i could put on it..

what kind of hood do you have now? stock flat hood?
what kind of heads are on the engine?

68 2" cowl hood.....its iron-headed...thats all i know...i didnt actually see the motor ....my gearhead racing buddy went over and saw it run...i'll ask him to see what kindof heads its got.....i think the torque was around 670...

loose the intake and carb and put a weiand intake (slight rise ) and a holley 950hp (4150 style) and you will be fine..
sounds like that intake and carb set up is too much, you dont need that for the street.
what the comp ratio? is it pump gas?

I have BBC with a Dart intake and dominator in my 69. It fits under a 2" cowl hood. Engine sits on small block frame mounts. BUT 3"x14" air cleaner will not fit under the hood.

Whoa, nice ride Jack! That Dart intake looks,,,,, substantial.
Here's my L88 with a 4" K&N. It fits inside the cowl hood.
