Hey guys, Anyone got an easy way to set the pinion depth correctly the first time or do I have to take it in and out several times after running a pattern check after each pinion shim change. I find it hard to get the centerline of the axels to measure the pinion depth without guessing where the center is. I dont have the correct tool if their is one to get that done!! Any rules of thumb? It has a 2.451 marking on the pinion for the depth. I put a .025 shim in first but the pinion needs to be deeper.

I just read the pattern and make adjustments. I've found that the pinion depth tools are not accurate enough to get it right the first time. It always takes more adjustments. I don't have a pinion depth tool anymore.
