Im a diesel mechanic. Get yourself a 2500hd Duramax. The fords 6.0 and 7.3 are total junk. The cummins is a good motor but very overrated. The duramax is totally amazing. Other than some of the injector problems they had.. they are unstopable.

That is far from the truth ..i have a 06 ford 6.0 l and it's been better than my brother inlaws tampax motor truck , he spent so much getting the diesel out of the oil all the time it was crazy. I get around 19 mpg towing our 10,000lb fifth wheel trailer .You can't really go wrong with the top three...they all have the odd problem .

Its because im in the business is why i have the opinion. If i had a dollar for every time we had a 6.0 in for broken cranks and injectors etc.. Id be a millionaire. Then again like yourself i know 1 other guy who is almost at 150k with no probs. your right though about every one of them has there pros and cons.

Here to , i have worked on diesels a bit longer than you have been allive, i work on a bunch of different brands and yes they all have problems .The 6.0 liter ford had major problems with there EGR systems,easy to fix if and away you go . My 06 superduty has a Hydrogen fuel cell...and i also inject methanol when under full boost . It makes just over 1000ft lb of torque and 450 horse . Cruising around straight truck i can get around 24 MPG. One thing i really like about the superduty is the frontends , they seem to hold up to a bit more abuse than all the indapendant stuff . The other thing is,they all cost to much.

I actually test drove a Powerstroke before buying my Duramax...........it was a 07 F250..........almost did'nt make it back top the lot............mechanic told me it was because it was low on fuel and the pump was getting air........so I told him to fill it up..........after I floored it leaving the lot it stumbled ,shook,and trembled as we limped back into the lot and that is why I bought a Duramax...............don't get me wrong I like the Powerstroke but I have read about thier problems on top of my drive.
