Default Muncie 4 speed transmission

Hello everyone. I have a 67 Camaro with a 350 in it. It had a manual transmission in it at one time. I wanted to know if there is a specific Munci that goes to that car or if i can just pick up any munci 4 speed and put that in? Any info will help. Thank You

The speedo cable should come out on the passinger side. rear end gear of 273-331 ratio use m20 and 355 and deeper use m21. Do not get the later muncie with coarse spline input and 400 yoke output cause they are 1 inch longer than all the rest. Thinking 1972 to 1974 trans. Try to keep it standard of sort. Always open side cover up to check Quality of trans prior to purchase. Bolt holes for shifter check for stripped ones if going to mount to trans itself. Going price of $700.00 or greater. IMO

It probably had a Saginaw trans in it originally unless it was a SS, Z/28, or BB car. That doesn't mean a Muncie won't bolt right in. Like stated, any Muncie with the smaller output shaft (same as the PG/TH350) will bolt right in.

Also, you can find a Muncie with the speedo cable on the driver side if you look around (I think 'Vettes form 63-66 used the driver side speedo output). One less thing that you will have to change--the speedo cables on autos and on sag's came out on the dirver side...

All 4 speed Corvettes from 63 to 74 had Muncies with right side speedos.

All I can say is that I have an M-20 with a driver side speedo, ans was told that it came out of a '65 vette before it was rebuilt...maybe it was not original to the car it was pulled from...

The passenger side speedo tail housing came out Feb. 1965 every Muncie before that used the driver side speedo tail housing...
Pontiac A-body's used the driver side speedo tail housing thru the end of the 1970 model year... Hope this helps... Crash
