well what i am going to do is put them in the car put it back down on the ground and see where it sits right now one spring measures 7 5/8 to the center and the other is
just a hair under 8 inches this seems to be a lot of work but i think i will acheive the height i want . the spring shop told me more than likely they wont break but they are over 40 years old and he is not responsible if they do! which i can understand. a few years ago i put new monos in the 68 and i didnt really care at how high it was i was told it would settle but it really didnt come down any . mike

Don't measure just the springs. Go to the AIM and measure the ground to rocker dimension. Your spring rate will not change unless they have been bent past the yield point, in which case they are broken or just junk. Your load rate changed because the height at a given weight changed. They have been re-arching springs forever. The amount they get bent is very small. I had mine done 4 years ago and no problems what-so-ever. Multi-leafs may be touchier than a mono-leaf since you are relying on one spring.
