Default Seatbelts 1967; supposed to lock?

I have the retractable lap seatbelts in my 1967. They do not lock even when I step on the brakes (neither passenger or driver side). You can just pull them all the way out until they are completely unwound. Are they supposed to Lock or is the way they made them? Doesn't seem particularly safe. Checked through a few pages of threads and didn't see this particular question. Thanks!

Old car seatbelts don't lock, you have to pull the tail until the whole belt is unwound and snug...

Thanks for the quick reply. I believe I understand what you're saying - similar to an airplane seat where you pull the tail to adjust to your size. My seatbelts don't have that that adjustability, there is no tail. That's why I thought it should lock in place when the car slows down. It's likely these are not the original seatbelts. I may just replace them.

Your seat-belts should look like this. The adjustment is on the buckle side. The original 67 Deluxe belts have the Fisher Body Carriage on the release button.

Mine are definitely not original and don't look like that. They have a picture of a world map on the buckle and have no provisions for length adjustment.

I'd attach a picture but I can't figure out how. This is my first post and I'm still trying to get the hang of this. I clicked "manage attachments" but the "choose file" button is grayed out I cannot select it.

Use the advance editor and look for the paper clip...
