It's always a shame to see those original owner ,well any of them actually, cars sitting like that. My dad bought the '70 when it was new, and it sat off and on from 1980 to 2005. I always hated to see it just sit out in the weather. Thankfully it's back on the road now. The mechanical stuff has all been gone through, now it's time to make it look decent.

wow,roger!is that a yellow interior?never seen a mod top before,either.its just like a 67 rs double yellow i drove home for a retirement project.(like i`ll ever get there.)black vinyl top ruined,rear trunk & frame rusted out and all.still #`s match,steel wheels wire covers,spare(missing jack).to sad to post pix`s ..love this thread tho...

Hey Phil, we might have to wake Roger up, since this thread is about a year old.....

I thought the restoration was almost complete, and although I've never seen a full exterior view, what i have seen looks top notch in quality. Capri Cream with Gold interior, I believe.

What's blowin' my mind is that "MOD TOP" !! Is that factory ???

Phil, Garth I completed the restoration last fall and started showing the car this year. This site hasn't shown much interest in the Mod Top so I haven't post much about it. I do try to post any pictures I have of things I have restored when questions come up on the site. I am having a trailer built and plan on showing the car out of town next year.
Garth the Mod Top wasn't a factory install but it was installed by the dealer before I purchased it in 67. The Mod Tops were produced in a kit form sold to dealers by a company in CA. It didn't get to popular on the Camaro and I have seen very few. In the 70s Chrysler came out with a Mod Top that was a little wilder design.
I have gotten a lot of my info on the Mod Top off of Camaro Pace Cars site. I have some pictures post there and they have some info on the Mod Tops at the link below.

Thanks for link Roger, your car looks outstanding ! Just as it did (probably better) when new. Yeah, I knew about the factory Mod Tops from Mopar....and knew you were the original owner of your car, so I was just wondering. Did you have the dealer install the top, or had they already done it when you first seen the car on the lot ? It does go well with the Cream & Gold interior.

Hats off to the folks like you and Phil, who go the extra mile in pursuit of originality. Finding a match for the vinyl top couldn't have been easy....same with Phil and his 67 Yellow upholstery. They're all unique in their own way, really a pleasure to see them as they were fresh off showroom floor some 40+ yrs ago....

No Garth I didn't have anything to do with the Mod Top install. The car was early 67 build and I didn't purchase it until the first of Sept. The car must have set on the lot for 6 months before they installed the top. I seen the car in front of the dealership one day and purchased it the next. It was a bargain for just 3.5K. Today I am spending 2 1/2 times that on a trailer to haul the car around.
