Hello everyone. Am new to TC and have my first of many questions. What is the typical order of body panel replacement on a 69? I will be installing full quarters, outer wheelhouses, fill panel, tail pan, fenders, hood, and doors.
I plan on keeping the original front end and doors on until I get the quarters done for alignment purposes. Would I install one quarter at a time or both at the same time? What order would the tail pan be installed? I have replaced many Chevelle full quarters but never had to replace a taipan so the order or replacement is unknown to me. Also, I am replacing floor pans. What is the brace that comes down underneath the middle of the toe board and is it available aftermarket? Mine is rusty and needs replaced due to the bad floor pan. I have looked at catalogs, old posts, and books and cannot find what it is or looks like. Thanks |

It's really up to you whether you do one side at a time and keep the tail pan in place to help with alignment, or do the whole rear clip at once. I did it all at once, since I was replacing the full trunk pan and frame rails, and needed the tail panel off to get the trunk pan in.
Not really sure what piece you're talking about on the toe boards- are you talking about the point where the subframe mounts? If so, those pieces are now available separately from several vendors- you used to have to buy a full firewall to get them. |

Fit the entire rear section collectively, not individually, before you weld anything.

I got got ya, it makes sense. May be best to replace it all at once for adjustment.
I am talking about the area where the subframe mounts. I guess that is why I couldn't find that piece in the catalogs. Is that. Common area to rust? Thanks |
