I have a TH400 installed in my Camaro, and really considering reverting back to an original PG.

This tranny works excellent shifts great.

The code is

420

CT 68-43525

What may something like this be worth. I know a CT means Truck.

Why go back to the 'glide? Certainly not as friendly on the street as the THM.

One that is operational I would say 350 bucks.

The reason i would like to go back to the PG, is that my car is for the most part stock except for this TH400. My engine is a 327/275hp and i really feel like this TH400 is way too much transmission for this car. This car is just a fun driver not a race car. I lose alot of power through the drive train just turning this tranny. To be quite honest i like the 2 speed.

I didnt think it would be worth a whole lot being a CT code.

I didnt think it would be worth a whole lot being a CT code.

I had a '67 Chevelle with a stock 283 and a THM 400.....ran great and was very street friendly.

Keep the trans until you put the pg in it....you might want to change back to the thm-400.

Mine is pretty sluggish low end, but 55mph and over there is some pretty good power.

Considering it takes close to 48hp just to turn the 400. This is just me,but wouldnt a lighter PG be a better match.

No I just looked for the tag, so there could be. What would it tell if i was to find it?

Sure, the 400 consumes more power but the gearing makes up for that. First gear in a 400 is 2.48 and first gear in a stock pg is either 1.76 or 1.82, depending which one you have.

I don't mind a PG on the street but lots of others do. It won't shift until about 30-35 mph in a 'stock' camaro, and the passing gear thing is a little unnerving. Don't get me wrong, PGs are great transmissions for certain applications, but imo the THM is better for normal street driving. There is a reason GM quit using them 40 years ago.

I understand what your saying, maybe my issue is gearing in the rear end. It really feels like a 2.73, maybe a 3.53 would be better served for my sluggish low end performance.

Worth more than a PG anyway! I just could not abide the PG hum all the time if nothing else.

I would advertise it as can be driven - will be worth more if the confirm its operation vs sitting on the floor with "it worked fine when removed" statement 3-400$ IMO
