I am stripping the factory Undercoating off of the bottom of my car and I am wondering what is the best paint product to use and what application process, as my car is already painted. I was planning to spray, and bag and tape the car. Has anyone else has any experience with a similar project?

Depends what your goal is for final finish/appearance ? I think it's safe to say epoxy prime then top coat....

Yep, mask the body off with plastic.

Thanks Garth. I want the final finish to look like this. Hopefully I will succeed. Yes major bagging and taping will be the order of the day, to prevent any overspray.

So, as far as I can tell, smooth semi-gloss black ? No texture or sound deadener, lizard skin stuff ! Could get away with just a couple coats of black epoxy or if you want something more, then top coat. SEM ?

I used SEM Hot Rod Black on my semi gloss parts and it turned out great!

i used centari pitch black and flattened it about 40 % came out great.

I shot mine with SPI black epoxy, and then followed that with two coats of spray-can bedliner. The epoxy will handle rust protection, and the bedliner will help protect the epoxy from chips/nicks. The stuff goes on really fine out of the can with a light texture- not like the heavy snot texture you get with Rhinoliner, etc., so it's not really obvious.

I just did the same job last winter. Two coats of black epoxy then two more of SEM trim black.

Centari black is a dupont enamel. Sprays great. Ill post a few pics
