cowl tag reads 12C (3rd week of December) NOR174407. The car i'm looking at buying is a pre x code car and the cowl tag reads 12B (2nd week of December) NOR198829. Im I wrong or shouldnt the car built the 3rd week have a larger number then the car built on the 2nd week?

X2. Weren't the 5500-7000 redline tachs originally fitted to SS350 and 396-325/350? Early Z's had 6000-7000 redline bands and later cars had 6000-8000 redline.

I don't think a 12C built car would have the vin# stamped by the oil filter. I am just going by what Jerry M. says in his book. He's saying mid Jan.

The trim tag rivets look to have been changed. I don't like the trans stamp. Given past history with the fake gold Z he sold a while back, I say fake.

Way more than 10% show up with cowl hoods. Why is that?

Maybe the owner's mom installed that tach????
and maybe she installed the cowl seal on the Air Cleaner too?

I was thinking the same thing. He's known for selling fakes. What a crook is all I can say!

Well, the trim tag looks OK to me, but if I was seriously interested in the car, I'd appoint Jerry M to check out the entire car from top to bottom. Money well spent, against such an asking price.
