Can anyone tell me what a 1969 date coded 12 bolt 3.31 ring & pinion (used) is worth? Since it's "inside" I'm not sure the date coding means anything.

Most people are a little scared off by reinstalling used gears in a differant housing. This makes used gears not worth a lot.
Do they show much wear ? If any of the teeth have chips or show "flaking" or pitts they are scrap. Are you going to install them or are you paying someone. If you are paying someone you would be better off buying new , so its only done once (you hope) If you are selling them I also have a set that a freind offered me $50.00 for. I was afraid if they whined it could cause problems between us so I told him I wanted to keep them , but I thought that was a fair offer. The dates adding value ? To me not , but maybe someone it would.

I have a set to sell. Great condition no problems, no signs of wear but like everybody else not sure what to ask for them. Not sure if there is any demand if any. Just trying ot get an idea. Thanks.

Not much demand. I have a 1969 dated set, and haven't even bothered to put them up for sale.
$50 is a fair price. Someone who knows what they are doing can get the pattern right where it was originally and they won't LIKELY whine, but there is never a guarantee on used gears.

Yeah, i get it. I'll probably just hang on to them in case of an emergency.

There is one part of this that makes these gears desirable. For someone with a factory SS (3.31 gears were standard), you can only go with used sets. The 3.31 is not reproduced. I actually have two used GM sets to go into my 3.31 stamped rear when I get to that part.

I have found some 3.31's at swap meets for 30-50$ a set and I have seen some sets sell for 175$ on e-buy. personally I prefer oem GM gears any day of the week

$50 is a good price, it's a risk for the buyer.
3.31 is a great all around gear.

Guess I spoke out of place. Appears to be more of a market than I thought.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-GM-...-/251091622363 Still, would be glad to sell mine for $75.
