Hello. Two part question:
1. I need some patch panels for a 67 and was wondering if anyone knew of a Canadian-based supplier. I'm east of Toronto and was hoping to find something from Canada to avoid duty fees. I love NPD's catalogue but I'm thinking duty fees will pile up.
2. Any recommendations on treating the bare metal after the patch is welded in, before filler and primer? I hear acid wash and then etching primer?

Early Birds (Barrie Ontario) ships out of the states but the taxes and duties are included in the price, take this into consideration. Same quality of parts as Goldleaf.

If you are near Ajax,Pickering you can order Goldenleaf patch panels through Karbelt on Bayly Street just west of Brock Road. 905-839-4421 Ask for Steve. If you are further east, say Oshawa, Bowmanville, Newcastle, you can get the patch panels through Absolute Classics on Wilson Road south. 905-404-8997. Ask for Bob. If you pick up at their stores you don't pay shipping as Goldenleaf drops shipments off weekly.

I and others I know have had poor experiences with Ultimate Performance. Expensive shipping, messed up orders, and 3-4 week waits for delivery.

Don't know about the acid wash but definately the etching primer.

No etching primer unless youre topcoating right after.
Epoxy primer if its going to sit for awhile.That etch invites airborne humidity and harbors it.She'll rust up after a little while on you.You have to get in behind the weld too,or the same thing happens regardless of how you seal it.Even bondo/rage.

Listen to Chris. Epoxy will seal the body from moisture. I would spray 2 medium coats of epoxy on all the bare metal, then start my body work over the epoxy. Once all my body work was done, I would then proceed to spot in all the body filler with epoxy. Once the spot in has flashed enough, I would then proceed with a wet coat of epoxy to finish it off before moving on to high build primer, if needed. I like to sand my epoxy, so I tend to put on a little more than typically necessary.
