Default Undercarriage paint advice

I'm currently using wire wheels to clean up the undercarriage of my car. I'm mainly trying to clean and remove any signs of rust, but I was lucky that there is none (unless rust colored dust counts). I have gone to bare metal on some parts and have just removed the greese and dirt from most. My questions are: What is the best coverage and protection I should use after I clean?
After reading many posts on this topic I think that a epoxy primer and semigloss paint will be sufficient. Does this sound okay? Any suggestions?

that will do the trick. Or a self etching primer and POR15

My underbody is all PPG DP90. I plan on using a brush-on bedliner this summer (hopefully) for added protection against water, noise, and chippy stuff.

Is it okay to spray etch primer over the factory paint? I don't want to remove all of it if it is not necessary.

no need for the etch primer if you are not taking it down to bare metal. You can put the por 15 over the old paint, just sand it and clean it first

I'm not so sure about painting POR-15 over the painted surfaces. Won't adhere.
POR-15 is meant for rusty metal, and is a three-step process.
It'll be OK to use if you follow the three-step process on the bare and\or rusted sections, but I wouldn't use it on the areas that still have paint on them. It won't stick. If you want to strip 100% of the paint off the bottom of the car first, by all means try the POR-15.
Restomotive offers a primer specifically made for POR paints that you may look into also.

I'd clean all the areas you want to paint, then go with a typical primer\paint process instead. Save the POR-15 for rusted metal.

Has anyone used the spray on bed liner stuff for protection? I'm restoring my to be a driver and originality is not an issue. I live in a Northern climate and while I won't take it out in the snow it will probably be out on bad weather. This stuff seems to be impervious to wear. Should I worry about any heat issues? If I use this on the undercarriage I'll probably do the wheelwells as well.
