Default Four Post Lift Question Caster Wheels

Anyone with a 4 post lift running into the problems with the caster wheels on the dollies digging into the concrete floor.

Any ideas on where to get some sort of wheel that I can replace the steel ones with?

Obivously it's when I am rolling it around with the car on it.

Thanks in advance.

My understanding is the casters are for moving the unloaded lift only, manufactures don't recomend moving the lift with a vehicle on it...

Hey Dennis, I called Direct Lift and they said I could, obviously in the lower position.

I guess I can call them and ask about the wheels.

The Rotary/Revolution 4 post I uses a similiar design caster. They recommend not having the weight of the car on the ramp. When the ramp is lowered it rotates the caster arm and "lifts" the 4 posts about 1" or so off the ground. Then its easy to move. Have you tried without the car on the ramp. The ramp is not down far enough in that picture to raise the 4 posts.

Heres some poly casters...

Might also try Northern Tool. The caster section is setup based upon load weight and they did have some Poly

Hey Tom, thanks for the repy.

Yes I always remove the ramps. I have no problem moving it around for the most part. It's just the wheels tend to spin in the worng direction sometimes so when I push the lift and they adjust, they dig into my cement floor.

I will check out the link, thanks again!

I get it now - I could see how steel wheels on concrete would do that. The Poly looks like a better option.

i put a much larger/heavier set of poly casters on mine and then discovered the arms they bolt to to be the weak link and had to reinforce them. it is a breeze to move empty now, but with a convertible hull on it, still have to use a mechanical advantage to move it (a forklift). after spending 400 or so to do this upgrade i gained little and do not feel it to safe to move with a car on it. save yourself a lot of heartache and only move it empty. it just might save your car or severe personal injury.

Just a follow up.

I ordered these from Amazon and they work awesome! Far better than the cast iron ones that were digging in to my concrete floor all the time. And these actually swivel in the proper direction when I am pushing. The others didn't...
