Hi All,
Bought the 70-73 GM pads and they look nothing like the originals. The new pads are very thin compared to the originals and do not come with the thick center pad behind the sender openning. Anyone use any other pads to match original?
John
I heard just put a piece of rubber garden hose above the gas tank and when you bolt down the gas tank it will compress the hose and prevent any squeaks.
A friend of mine was restoring a chevelle and ordered gas tanks strips. What he got was strips of tar paper with the writing on the back. Ha You never know what you will get sometimes.
I bought a kit that included the anti-squeaks for my 68. It came with bicycle tire tube-like strips that I trimmed to fit better. After researching here I see that some didn't install the rubber under the straps, but I had it done.
I glued the the rubber on with weatherstripping adhesive. Worked like a charm and no squeaks by the way.
