What grit is the red scotch brite Pads? I am scuffing down my jambs and want to use the red ones I have, will it show any scratches in the paint?

I don't know what the grit comparison is for the red pads but I would use the green ones for scuffing the jambs. The green ones are a little less aggressive. I use them for a lot of stuff.

I was given this info years ago by a 3M rep.;

TAN = @100
GREEN = @200
MAROON = @400
GREY = @800
WHITE = @1200

I have always used the Green and Maroon (red) for most prep work and never had any adheasion issues.
Be aware there are two(2) 'flavors' of the Maroon (red) pads - #7447 is the more common production type pad, the #8447 is a more technical pad and more expensive.
All the above, except the two finest pads, are Aluminum Oxide cutting compounds. The Grey pad is Silcone Carbide and the White pad is Flint powder and usable on most plating without scratching the finish for removing small rust and defect spots.

Hope this helps;
John
