Default rs tail panel

any difference in the rs tail panel vs the regular. so my body man is telling me to buy the regular tailpanel and cut the hole for the back up lights. but when i look at the rs tailpanels for sale it appears the have back up bracing behind the reverse lights. what u think

They didn't have the RS tail pan when I was going through my rebuild. I don't know if the RS panel is worth another $400.00 just for the holes. They sell the templates to locate the holes on the standard panel. The backup lights fasten to a inner panel so any bracing would be useless on the taillight panel. Maybe you could give us a link to show us what bracing you are talking about. Both panels should have the bracing for the taillights.

That panel is very new design. The oem panels did not have that mounting bracket attached to the taillight panel. The oem panels did have the holes stamped but there was also a separate inner panel. That inner panel gives that lower panel a lot of support and also provides a mounting surface for the back-up lights. I got the $400.00 figure from the Rick's site.

This new panel takes a lot of the work out of replacing that lower part, but is it as strong as the original design?
