Hey all,
Looking for someone to confirm my thinking before I go and blow more money at Summit Racing ![]() Basically, I have a nice BeCool radiator/electric fan set up however once the fans kick on they never turn off again. It cools it down nicely, even in the heat of the northern CA valley, but it'd be nice if they turned off again when the temp was back down to where it should be. So, I think the reason is because I have the thermostat and temp sender switch too close to the same temp rating? The thermostat is a 180 and the BeCool switch is on at 195, off at 175. From my understanding, maybe I should have a 165 termostat instead? This should be simple, but I can't wrap my head around it for some reason. |

Usually, one would install the sensor on the return tank or side of the radiator.
This position would monitor the return temp to the engine. You won't find a 165°F thermostat, 160°F. Marine applications have a 140°F.

Suggest you leave the 180 thermostat. Install an on-at-195, off-at-180 sensor in the radiator (upper portion of radiator), not an off at 175. Lots of places sell them. One source is Mattson Custom Radiators/The Fan Man. Summit may have them too.

I never had good luck out of the temp. sensors that come with the BeCool radiator fans. I use a Dakota Digitial controller to control the fans. It will control 2 fans but you will have to have 2 relays.
The good thing is it defaults the fans to run if the sensor goes bad. It also has a temperature display on it. If you have a electric temperature guage it will also work off that sensor too. You will not need a seperate sensor. It can also be used to turn the fans on if you have A/C. Try Summit or Ebay for one. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd641.htm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dakota-Digit...6b9839&vxp=mtr

Leave the 180* thermostat.
