Pulled up to a traffic light and literally dissappeared in a cloud of smoke this morning. Got off the highway as quick as I could, pulled into a lot and put the hood up. My drivers side valve cover was lying on the fender, oil going everywhere
I've got old style covers on a newer motor with adapter plates. Seems the folks who put the valve covers on did not realize the screws were too long - they bottomed out on the cylinder head, putting tremendous load on the 4 studs that held the adapter plates

. All the adapter plate studs broke (2 breaking inside the head that I could not fix in the parking lot).
Managed to remove 2 studs and replace with bolts. Buttoned her back up and drove the final 20 miles to work in a fading trail of smoke.
For the first time since she was redone, my valve covers didn't leak
