Default Trunk lid fit?

Should the trunk lid fit better than this? This is a NPD re-pop trunk lid. It seems like it should extend down more to match the lines of the quarter panel (it looks like it’s a quarter inch short).

How do the original trunk lids fit? (I tossed my original, crumpled trunk lid—note to self: never toss sheet metal)

Unhappy Re: Trunk lid fit?

Fittment of the repopped lids can be a problem.

Here is a past post discussing the issues - http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...=trunk+lid+fit

If you do a search for 'trunk lid fit' or 'deck lid fit' and you can find bunches of threads on it.

Matt,
I put on a repop trunk lid on my 67 and the lip is wider and sits lower than what is seen in your pic. I have tried multiple repop pannels on my car and some fit better than others.. and were from the same supplier. Its a crap shoot..

Heres a pic

Thanks Gary. Yours looks great.
I bought mine a long time ago and it's probably too late to return it. Maybe I'll try to add some metal (filler rod).

Matt...I had to add metal to my aftermarket doors to get the gap on the curve of the quarter right. Its pretty much a common thing for dealing with repop stuff (from what I have read.) The Trunk lid was like $150 bucks from a Goodmark dealer. It may be cheaper and easier to go look at another new repop then pay for the time to add metal unless your doing it yourself. I added some metal and stunk at it. I got it about 75% but the body shop will do its thing and get it perfect when I take it for paint. The more I do the less it will cost me.

If you go for a new lid take some measurments and see what they have. Try it. If it isnt any good return it for another. I had to go thru several fenders before I got acceptable ones. They still need work to be what I want. I am lucky and have a local Goodmark/dynacorn dealer who has more than one of the more popular pieces in stock

Good luck whatever you decide to do !
