Default DVD copy questions

I created a picture slideshow with music and transitions and burned it to a DVD. I need to make 30 copies of this DVD. I have done around 10 so far and when I opened a new pack of DVD's, they won't copy. I get an error report. I tried 3 DVD's and all did the same. The only diference I can find is the first 10 are done on a DVD that says 8x and the DVD's that won't accept a burn are marked "up to 16x". Other than that, they are the same. Could this be the problem? Should I be looking for something else? I am using a SONIC DVD burn program and it has worked well so far.

Codi,
You may have some a case of DVD defects. I would take them back where you bought them for a refund. I had the some problem with some blank DVD's I bought from Big Lots. They exchanged them with no problems and the new one I exchanged them for worked like a charm.

Don't use generic Disks, get Memorex, Sony, (name brand) etc. disks. The rest are just coasters.

So it has nothing to do with the 8x and 16 x designation (what ever that means)?

It would only make a difference if the newer disks were the 8x ones and you were trying to burn them at too fast of a speed. Since you're newer ones are 16x, they "should" have been fine, but I'm betting the quality of the disks themselves are low. What brand are they?

It's possible you're running out of buffer at the higher burn rate? This seems to be more of a problem with lots of smaller files as opposed to a few large ones. You might try slowing down the burn speed to 6x or 8x. For the version of Sonic that I have, it's under Tools/Options/General/Advanced. It's worth a shot.

May be an odd comment but did u make sure your computer can burn both dvd-r and dvd+r. u may have burned the first 10 on dvd-r for example and then bought dvd+r for your next batch. If this isn't the problem then maybe you just got a bad batch of dvd's which is most likely refundable.

MY CAMARO is the winner (I think). After trying a new batch of DVD's, and quality types I might add, the young (knowledgable) lady at Staples believes I did my original burn (master) on a +R DVD and was trying to copy it to a -R DVD. Now I don't have the slightest idea what a + or - is but she gave me a new batch of +R to try. So, I guess my DVD burner is a DVD-RW-8x-+R? All new to me.
