Default 69 Z/28 HOT ROD Test

I just got a scanner and thought I would try it out here, so this is a article from a Januarary 1969 HOT ROD magazine. It may be a little hard to read but I noticed the print in these old magazines was alot smaller than today

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE scan the Mercury Eliminater 2-speed rearend article b/c I've thought for years it was made AND haven't been able to find ANY info on it at all!!!

I always remembered it as having a second shift handle on the side of the console that was flipped to kick in the rearend's OD in manually by using a long link...

PM me if you want..

Thanks,

pdq67

PS., I love the old articles about our cars that the mag's did back when they were new... Thanks for posting it..

Hot Rod did some mods to the car and had another feature on it May '69. Same car was also tested by PHR and SCG. Note the '68 rear stripe layout.

The engine bay photo shows a reverse-polarity battery. But what is missing in the photo?

I have that issue. Look at the classifieds in the back. I don't have it in front of me now but there is a 58(I think) vette for sale for around 12-1500 bucks.

Seems there was only six 1969 Cougar Eliminators with this rear end and they never went into production or were sold to the public

I love the old long articles. Now it's all pictures. People don't read like they used to.

Al,

Would you PLEASE let Chicane read this post b/c of the info on the '69 Cougar 2-speed rearend??

I'm trying to talk to him about it and he told me he's still locked out so can't read it. And I don't know how to transfer the pdf pic's of the article about it to him??

Please let me know one way or the other.

Thanks,

Paul, (aka, pdq67)

It' not the print, it's the eyes. I used to be able to read dates on coins, now I can't tell if there is a date even on it or not.

And WAC, if you're still looking for old mags, I know this was an old post, let me know. I ordered some through a site that looks for what you want and sends it if they don't have it, if they can find it.

I'd love to have that 2-speed rearend!!!

I may even invest the money and use it as a model to make one that used 12-bolt guts!!!!

That's how much I like this little jewel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
