Default 1968 Camaro Engine Frame mounts

I am in the process of installing a new 330HP - 350 GM Turn Key engine in my 1968 Camaro and have run into a problem with the Engine mounts not lining up with the new frame mounts. The vehicle originally had a 250- 6 engine. New 1968 302/350HP frame mounts and engine mounts have been installed. The problem comes in where the engine mount hole is not lining up with the frame mount hole in one of the frame mount by approximately 1/2 inch. If I line-up the passanger side and install the bolt through the mounts then the drivers side will not line up. If I install the drivers side and install the bolt through then the passanger side will not line up, off by approximatelt 1/2 inch. I have also changed out the engine mount with the same results. The frame mounts have been checked and are correctly installed. Has anyone run into this problem and have a solution or why this may be happening.

Massage it with a bigger hammer,
Only being out by 1/2 inch is nothing to worry about.
You could try loosing the three bolt on the block of both sides set the motor in place and snug up the lower bolt while in position. lift and tighten the other two bolts.

It sounds to me like you are trying to mate, Tall and narrow engine mounts with short and wide frame stands. Or visa-versa. !967 and 1968 Engine mounts are short and wide, 1969 Engine mounts are Tall and Narrow. Also, I hope none of the mounts (frame or engine) are repo's because most of them are not right. (From what I have heard.)

Yes, the isolators on the block should just slide over the frame mounts/stands, be of the same width.

My 68 Assembly shows part number for the frame brackets:
3892733 & 3892734
Emgine mount assemblies (isolator):3928391, 2 each.

Maybe more knowledgable experts here will either confirm or deny part numbers, or come up with (an)other solution(s).

Most vendors (such as NAPA) sell only 1969 and up motor mounts which will not fit a 1967-'68 frame stand. GM changed the motor mounts in 1969 because of a big recall due to motor mount failures allowing the engine to shift and sticking the throttle wide open. Since most people couldn't figure out how to turn off their ignition before hitting some one the lawyers got rich and we got problems trying to find the correct thickness and width of motor mount.

I've got original frame mounts on my 68 Z28 the numbers are 3955183 and 3980938. I think that these are for the 68 327 and 350 as well. The 1969 302 and 350 used different frame mounts and 68 motor mounts will hook up to them but not fit right, I believe the opposite would be true, using 68 frame mounts and 69 engine mounts. Maybe that's what you have. Before I found that my frame mounts were right I ordered the small block replacements and they were not like mine at all. I think if you get after market you have to use all after market to get it to work. CRG has a great aticle on this under the engine box.

After 3 different sets and types of Engine mounts ,the engine is finally sitting and connected to the frame mounts, however some modification was required to make it all fit. The frame mounts were shimmed up 1/4" on each side and the the Engine Mounts were shimmed down 1/4' on each side. (used the shim which is used on Chevrolet truck mounts) Everything has lined up with no interference. the HEI distributor has appromimate 1/4" clearance from the firewall and requiring no modification . Thanks for everyones input.
