I finally got a good look at my transmission and I beleive it is not the original. The car is a 69Z but the the trans code is P8C18 which I believe is from a 68....
Actually can anyone identify if this is a m21 or m22...? Here's all the numbers I found. 3884685 Driver side 3925660 Driver side P8C18 Passenger side "something unintelligble stamped here at end of series" 3088336 Passenger side 18w308216 Passenger side I believe it is from 68 March 18th. What I'm also not sure of if it is a true Camaro transmission. Any help would be appreciated. |

Definitely not a Camaro transmission, with the plant code being W in the partial VIN.

I read that the first number in the VIN stamp denotes the model of the car. I haven't been able to determine what number represents a Camaro.

The partial VIN only give some info on what it came out of.
1 = Chevrolet 8 = 1968 model year W = assembly plant code I dont know off the top of my head which plant that is, or which cars were built there, but camaros only had L or N for the assembly plant code

The trans was assembled on March 18, 1968, and was originally installed in a 1968 Nova at Willow Run.
