Default End my rope part II

After a flurry of activity where the quarters were finally installed on my car, my body guy has once again stalled out for the last 2 months or so. A lot of double-talk about parts availability (again) concerning the roof panel and underside supports. I went out there today to check on it, and whether or not the parts are even in stock is dubious, and two other cars have actually slipped "in line" in front of me.

So I think I'm done here; I'm going to settle up and take the car. Does anyone have any recommendations for body work in the Houston area? I need to have the roof and roof supports welded in, as well as some finish-up work.

Robert

Sounds about right! Thats the norm it seems like for most bodyshops or body guys insurance work is where the moneys at custom projects take TONS of time, work and money.

I've heard that before but it confuses me. Doesn't it all pay the same?

Hardly. Average collision/insurance job is about $2-$3k and turn around is 3-4 days. $10k job average three weeks. New OEM parts, cleaner work insurance check is good as gold.

Sorry to hear about that, I just got mine back after threatening him with a lawyer,I paid in full, got jacked around, people were put in line in front of me out of no-where.Picked up the car unfinished ,it was supposed to be complete but was not,he told me to leave it longer, but after seeing a RUSH JOB breaking parts and moldings,We got it out of there,Windshield support clips are left out with new windshield, grill out, bumpers off, cowl uneven,Hockey Stripe hugs the bottom of engine emblem, about 2"s on the top of emblem, too many things to list, unqualified help............it was in my best interest to finish otherwise...it is sad when people deal like this.......and he tells me he'll see me at the car show.........I don't bad-mouth people, but I will tell the truth !!!

Yes, it's been going on a while. It went in the shop in May of 2006 to have quarters, trunk, inners/outers, tail panel, floor panels, and upper dash replaced. They did the upper dash and cowl immediately, then everything sat in limbo for 9 months. It was always another story, and as much as I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, it's painfully evident at this point that it'll always be "just another story."
