Default Firewall Color if you have white Z stripes

Is it correct, that if you have a 69Z with white stripes the cowl area at the firewall would be painted white as well?

Thanks for the info....

I think that depends on if it was a Norwood or LA car. Jerry's books and/or CRG might have info on that. I could look it up, but I had dental surgury and I'm on some meds that make things a little blurry right now.

The LA cars in my experiance showed the stripe color in front of the cowl panel more so than the Norwood cars. The Norwood cars it seems the paint stopped under the cowl panel but I have seen some that it was out in front of the panel. some only on one side. I have seen LA cars where the whole top of the cowl was stripe color. They weren't real neat about it.

Ed,
I agree that the top of the firewall on Van Nuys Z's would have the white.
Here is some previous discussion:

Looks like you have some really nice cars!!

Interesting that the recess area is white also. I have read that was supposed to be painted black. I need to decide soon how to do it.

It was in the recess area. Here's my Dusk Blue with the GM White Lacquer down in the well. ....Some has been removed by the previous owner. He blasted parts of the cowl prior to dash repair, but you can still see the paint down in there...Its a Norwood car.
