Anyone have any pictures of the top part of firewall from a side view I guess at one point someone bought a HEI dist. and was insuch a hurry to put it on used a ballpeen (sp) hammer to make some extra room for it.
The engine going back in will be a big block any pictures with a big block installed (side view) so that I could see dist to firewall clearance would be great also I'm smoothing out this firewall so factory appearance is not my top priority. Thank You Jeff |

Rodknocker,
Make sure you use the BB engine perches. They will move the engine 1" forward compared to the small block perches. |

Check out the pics in my signature at the bottom. I had the same problem at the firewall with the previous owner & his hammer. He had a large HEI & needed room.
I took out the heater and pounded the hammer dent back to normal & finished it off for a cleaner look. The dist is a small Mallory with a Petronix module. As you can see, there's plenty of room. Dan ------------------ http://hobbystage.net/camaro/dsmart |

Rodknocker, I got mine about 2 years ago. At that time, one side (I don't remember if it was the LH or RH side) was still available through GM. I got the other from Obsolete Chevrolet. I checked Rick's First Gen. catalog and found them on page 184. They are repro's. I didn't see what year your car was, 67-8 perches are the same for the two years, 69 are different that 67-8. Rick's shows they have them both for 67-8 and 69.
