Anyone have any pictures of the top part of firewall from a side view I guess at one point someone bought a HEI dist. and was insuch a hurry to put it on used a ballpeen (sp) hammer to make some extra room for it.
The engine going back in will be a big block any pictures with a big block installed (side view) so that I could see dist to firewall clearance would be great also I'm smoothing out this firewall so factory appearance is not my top priority.
Thank You
Jeff

Rodknocker,
Make sure you use the BB engine perches. They will move the engine 1" forward compared to the small block perches.

Check out the pics in my signature at the bottom. I had the same problem at the firewall with the previous owner & his hammer. He had a large HEI & needed room.
I took out the heater and pounded the hammer dent back to normal & finished it off for a cleaner look. The dist is a small Mallory with a Petronix module. As you can see, there's plenty of room.

Rodknocker, I got mine about 2 years ago. At that time, one side (I don't remember if it was the LH or RH side) was still available through GM. I got the other from Obsolete Chevrolet. I checked Rick's First Gen. catalog and found them on page 184. They are repro's. I didn't see what year your car was, 67-8 perches are the same for the two years, 69 are different that 67-8. Rick's shows they have them both for 67-8 and 69.
