Ok guys, I am fixing to go to the shop and start the swap in a few minutes.
I own a 69 Camaro that has a rebuilt 307 (non original) in it that has a looooose main journal. (previous owner didn't put the oil filter on tight enough......long story) Gonna pull the motor, fix the crank, and put it in an 86 S-10 Blazer for some side money. ![]() THEN, I'm going pull the LT-1 out of the totaled 94 Z/28 and begin the 383 build up to install into the 69. It will have the factory fuel injection system along with the 4L60E trans as well. I'll update often and with lots of pictures here soon. I hope to get some on tonight. Wish me luck.......I am off to the "Joe's Kustom Kar Garage"!!! Be back in a bit........ Joe |

Hey guys, I got the block back from the machine shop last week. I had it torque plate bore and honed, line bored, checked for cracks and made sure everything was strait. I was going to have it decked, but the machinist told me there was nothing wrong with it. I also had the entire rotating assy ballanced.
While I was waiting on all of this to be done, I took the heads apart and started about a 35 hour jouney of port work on em. I even polished the chambers for future use of nitrous one day. I think I did a pretty good job for my first time with a set of aluminum heads. I opened up the ports alot more than it was from the factory and I also opened up the pockets just before the valve. All in all, I took about 1-1/2 pound of material off of each head. At the end of the port work, I finished them off with a fresh set of Crane dual roller springs to go along with the Comp Cam with a lift of .510 Int/.540 exh and a duration of 230 int/244 exh......also known as a 290HR-12. After all that work was done, I got all the bottom end bearings plastiguaged, got the thrust bearing endplay adjusted, set all my piston ring gaps, and got it all put together. Today I will have both heads installed. I will have lots of pictures when I have the time to put them up. I hope to have that done today hopefully. Until then, I'll be wrenchin' on the 69' Later guys, Joe |

Ok, the engine is together. It's also in the Camaro now. I had a few bups along the way tho. The main one was the adaptor plate for the valve covers. I have the centerbolt style heads and have a really nice set of perimeter bolt covers I wanted to use, so I got an adaptor. When I put on the adaptor, I found out it would hit the guide plates for the pushrods.
(I know I should have bought self aligning rocker, but this was all I had laying around) So, I had to take off all the guides and modify them to let the adaptor fit into place. Once that was done, the valve covers hit the rocker arms!!!! So, after taking off the rockers one more time, I had to modify the adaptor plate a little more to scoot the covers up to clear the rockers. What a pain in the arse!!Anyway, it all built and in the car. Now I found that I need to move the engine forward about 2 inches. If I don't move the engine forward, I will need to modify the crossmember, and shorten the driveshaft. I figure this will be cheaper in the end if I simply move the motor mounts. So, I will leave you with a few pictures I had promised. I seriously want to get this thing on the road. To be honest, I have owned it for a little over two months and driven it 2 miles.......and both miles were with a serious knock in the lower end of a gutless 307. Damn I wish I could put up a video of her idleing. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. I will get some pictures up tonight tho.Again, thanks guys, I'll post progress as it comes. Joe |

Ok guys, got it started up. This thing is is rediculous! I think my cam selection is a little large, but I think it will be a little more intimidating to the guy with the 55 HP Honda Civic with the big cofee can pipe and shopping cart wing.
![]() Anyway, I just got exhaust on it last week. I took it out for the first drive and immediately noticed a major problem. It seems that I have too much timing programmed in the computer. I have some MAJOR pinging going on under about half throttle. So, I called the guy who programmed it for me and he told me to change out the two month old fuel with fresh 93 octane and see what happens. Well, I did so and it helped.... a little. The knocking's not near as bad, but it's still there and I don't like it. It will have to be re-tuned, so until then, I will give an update. Joe BTW......It has a true dual pipe setup with 2-1/2" all the way out the back and it sounds mean!!!

Just an update......the fishing sucked. Didn't catch nothin' but trash fish and a whole bunch of undersized Red Drum.
![]() Anyway, I finally got some actual video of the LT1 idleing. Please ignore my messy shop......as anticipation builds, I seem to get unorganized. ![]() Also, I didn't get to edit the video so it's kinda crude. Don't know why, but my computer locks up and restarts it'self when I go to the edit program. Oh well, here it is anyway.......... http://s198.photobucket.com/albums/a...t=7ed082e2.flv The exhaust is a true dual with no cats, 2-1/2" thru 2 two chamber flows all the way out to exit out the rear by the bumper. I'm gonna try and put in an H pipe to see if it will quieten it down a little bit. I know it did on a 350 I just got done putting exhaust on on an 86 S-10 Blazer. It still has some tuning to do, but I think I have it all lined out to be done here in the next couple of weeks. Joe
