My car has a hurst v-gate shifter in it currently and a butchered up trans tunnel. I am no drag racer and personally hate the inline v-gate, and want to go back to the original style shifter.
However I am not that strong on trans knowledge and just want to make sure I get the linkages hooked up correctly. Thanx! Jeff |

What shifter are you replacing the v-gate with? Assuming that it is a Hurst Competition Plus, Hurst should be able to supply you with instructions. You may be able to download it from their websight.
The non-Hurst origional type shifter is a POS and I wouldn't use it unless you are trying to do some sort of concours restoration. I've got Richmond T-10 and a competion plus and it works great! Best of luck. |

'67 car, shoulda came w/ a Muncie and a Muncie shifter like mine..
And fwiw, I LIKE my Muncie shifter BUT, then again, I work w/ mine and take the time to keep it clean, lubed and set right!! Work's like a charm for me!! Remount the tranny to the cross member, then push a 1/4" or 5/16" bit in the adjusting hole and then adjust it so that you lead second going across to third and third the other ways backward! Like this!! ..........I../..........Not This........I..I ........../..I.............................I..I It only take's like a thread, MAYBE a thread and a half to do this. You will feel the diff. as she slides across the "H"!!! pdq67 |

Jim, the 1-2 shift lever is installed upside down in that picture.
This is how the linkage should look on a Hurst Competition Plus shifter in a 67-68 Camaro:
